Secret Gardens runner-up in Wirral Tourism Awards

The Society's annual Secret Gardens event was entered for the Wirral Tourism Awards 2012, the results of which were announced on 3rd April. The winner in the Event of the Year category was the Port Sunlight Village Festival, but the Society is pleased that our Secret Gardens, undertaken on a much smaller scale and on a purely non-commercial basis, was one of the selected finalists. Oxton Community History Archive

Following the successful bid for funding from Your Wirral, and thanks to an enormous effort from the History Group of the Oxton Society, the Oxton History Archive is now open in Oxton Village Books, 44 Christchurch Road. The Archive is a collection of historical materials, written articles, pictures, postcards and maps of Oxton. Computer search facilities are also available. Feel free to view the Archive in the Bookshop at any time.

A new programme of Oxton Guided Walks

The new programme of guided walks around Oxton Village started on 11th March. See here for more details.

Oxton Society History Group periodicals on sale

The popular 4-page Oxton History periodical, circulated free to members of the Oxton Society, is also available at a cost of £1 from Oxton Village Books, Christchurch Road. Oxton History, published five times per year, contains newly researched articles on the history of Oxton, its buildings and its people. Back copies are available.
